May 30, 2007 MSM Infection Control Officer Dr. Janice Winston appeared in a television news story regarding a drug-resistant strain of tuberculosis and international airline passengers. Winston's taped interview was broadcast on WSB-TV Channel 2. Insight into the role of U.S. Surgeon General from former Surgeon General and MSM Director of the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities Dr. David Satcher was heard around the nation May 26, 2007 on "All Things Considered" of National Public Radio (NPR). The program aired following the nomination by President Bush of Dr. James W. Holsinger Jr. as U.S. Surgeon General. Holsinger currently holds the Wethington Chair in Health Sciences and is professor of preventive medicine at the University of Kentucky College Of Public Health.
May 25, 2007 Drs. Eve J. Higginbotham and David Satcher were recognized at the "Health Care Heroes" gala and awards dinner at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead. Satcher won the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 37 years of health leadership. Higginbotham was honored for her groundbreaking work in ophthalmology and as a national leader in health care. A story and photos appear (cover and page 3E) in the May 25 - 31 issue of the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

May 8, 2007 Dr. Rhonda Conerly Holliday, MSM research assistant professor, Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine, was interviewed May 8, 2007 by Baltimore (MD) NPR affiliate WYPR 88.1 Radio. Holliday discussed the issue of the "porous border" between community and prison health.
May 16, 2007 A photo of MSM students appeared in the April 2007 issue of the National Urban Leagues' Opportunity Journal. The photo accompanied an article titled "RX for Lagging Black Health Care: More Minority Health Professionals," in which MSM was mentioned.
May 15, 2007 Dr. Daniel Blumenthal, chair and professor, Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine, was interviewed for the AOL "Black Voices" Web site. Blumenthal commented on the high infant mortality rate in the southern region of the United States and the importance of prenatal care.
A live interview with Oluranti Aladesanmi, M.B.C.H.B., M.P.H., aired on WAOK 1380 Power Talk. During the hour-long interview, Aladesanmi discussed health issues African Americans face at disportionate rates, including asthma, hypertension and diabetes. Aladesanmi is an assistant professor of clinical medicine. He sees patients at the Morehouse Medical Associates Internal Medicine Clinic at 75 Piedmont.
News on the "Prostate Cancer Disparity in Black Men... Rising to Meet the Challenge" conference appeared in the April 19-25 issue of the Atlanta Daily World newspaper. The conference took place April 20-21.

May 7, 2007 An interview with Gail Mattox, M.D., professor of Clinical Psychiatry and chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, regarding the fourth J.B. Fuqua Mental Health Forum, aired on WAOK 1380 AM.
An announcement regarding MSM's 23rd commencement exercises, set for May 19, was included in the May 4 issue of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
May 4, 2007 MSM Dean and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Eve J. Higginbotham was honored recently when 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc. recognized six local business and community leaders with its "Atlantans on the Move" Award. A story regarding the awards ceremony and recipients and a color photo of President Maupin appears in the April 27 - May 3, 2007 issue of the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
