February 13, 2008 Morehouse School of Medicine President Dr. John E. Maupin Jr. Receives Black Ice Award MSM President Dr. John E. Maupin Jr., was presented with one of eight inaugural Willie O'Ree National Hockey League (NHL) "Black Ice" Diversity Awards. The event was held Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at the Westin Peachtree Hotel in downtown Atlanta. The luncheon, part of the 2008 NHL All-Star Weekend, featured highlights of George and Darril Fosty's documentary, Black Ice: The Lost History of the Colored Hockey League.

February 11, 2008 February 10 Marked Tenth Anniversary of Satcher Confirmation Ten years ago yesterday, Feb. 10, 1998: Dr. David Satcher was confirmed by the Senate to be the nation's surgeon general and assistant secretary for health. Satcher currently serves as director of the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at MSM.
