Dr. David Satcher Fights ALS with the #IceBucketChallenge
With the ALS #IceBucketChallenge gaining momentum around the world, David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D., the 16th Surgeon General of the United States and director of the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), accepted the challenge on Aug. 21, 2014. Valerie Montgomery Rice, M.D., MSM’s incoming sixth president, graciously poured the iced water.
“Research has shown a link between brain trauma and ALS,” said Dr. Satcher. “As we at MSM continue our fight, I am accepting the ALS #IceBucketChallenge to raise awareness. But, more importantly, raise much needed funding to continue our investment in research that one day will lead to a cure.”
