Emergency Preparedness

The Morehouse School of Medicine is responsible for endeavoring to protect the lives and property of every person who is on the campus, and for maintaining an environment suitable for the orderly conduct of its educational function. The Medical School must be prepared at all times to respond to circumstances and situations that would adversely affect the ability of the school to fulfill these responsibilities. The Emergency Management Program establishes policies and procedures and assigns responsibilities to ensure the effective management of campus operations during emergency situations. Additionally, the organization provides direction for disseminating emergency public information, establishing emergency communications, developing alerting and warning procedures, and assessing and reporting damage.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Morehouse School of Medicine office of Emergency Preparedness is to ensure that the school enterprise is prepared for emergencies by providing strong and dedicated leadership to all areas of emergency preparedness, establishing communication channels that promote emergency preparedness, and establishing an environment of continuous training and improvement.

We will accomplish this mission by developing relationships between the organizations, agencies and persons involved in the preparation and response to both campus and community emergencies.
