Welcome to the Morehouse School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. We invite you to explore this site to review the programs and activities of our faculty, staff, students and residents. We are a relatively young department within a young and growing medical school. You will find a vibrant, dynamic department with talented faculty and staff committed to excellence in education, clinical service, research and community service.
Our primary mission is to educate the next generation of medical students and residents with cutting-edge educational methods. Our third-year pediatrics clerkship has been nominated on two occasions by the Ambulatory Pediatrics Association as an outstanding teaching program. Our new residency training program is fully accredited for a maximum period of five years. We also offer several highly sought elective rotations in Sexually Transmitted Diseases, general pediatrics, child abuse, the pediatrics South African elective and a sub-internship in critical care pediatrics.
Our clinical services cover a 20 square mile radius providing primary, secondary and tertiary care to a richly diverse patient population. Our full-time faculty hold specialty training/certification in general pediatrics, allergy/immunology, hematology/oncology, adolescent medicine, behavioral/developmental pediatrics, and infections disease. Our research initiatives involve STD management among primary care physicians, risk behavior reduction among adolescents, immunization adherence, Sickle Cell Disease mechanisms and management. Our education, clinical and research programs have a distinct community orientation which offers a unique experience for our faculty, students and residents alike.
We invite you to become acquainted with our department. We encourage you to contact us to respond to any questions or interests you may have.
