Dr. Louis W. Sullivan Receives Honorary Degree from University of Pretoria
|
Pretoria, South Africa — Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) President Emeritus and former Secretary of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, Louis W. Sullivan, M.D., has been awarded an honorary degree in medicine from the University of Pretoria (UP) in South Africa. Sullivan received the honor in September, 2007 in part, for his service as chairman of Medical Education for South African Blacks (MESAB). During his tenure, Sullivan raised funds to educate more than 8,000 health-care professionals in South Africa. Mrs. E. Ginger Sullivan accompanied her husband to South Africa for the ceremony. About the University of Pretoria School of Medicine The Pretoria School of Medicine at the University of Pretoria (UP) was formed from the previous Faculty of Medicine that was established in 1943.
