Charles M. Sow, MD, MSCR, received his Medical Degree from the University Cheick Anta Diop, School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Dakar, Sénégal. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Dakar University Hospital in Dakar, Senegal in 1990. Following his residency, Dr. Sow served as an orthopedic surgeon at Dakar Orthopedic and Trauma Center, then served as Clinical Intructor and subsequently as Assistant Professor at the University Cheick Anta Diop. Dr. Sow was also a Fellow at the Cantonal Hospital in Geneva, Switzerland from 1993-1994.
Dr. Sow pursued and completed another residency program in Family Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in 2004 where he served as chief resident. Dr. Sow is board certified in family medicine. He also completed a master's degree in clinical research in 2006 at Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Sow serves as Associate Residency Director and Electronic Health Records (EHR) lead physician.
Dr. Sow is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Sports Medicine, and numerous other professional organizations. He has served as author or co-author of a variety of peer-reviewed publications, and is the co-PI of the Residency Training in Primary Care grant which integrates complementary and alternative medicine modalities into the Chronic Care Model with a focus on diabetes. More recently, Dr. Sow received training as a medical acupuncturist and provides acupuncture to patients as part of their routine clinical care.
