My overall goal is to identify differences between normal surrounding and cancerous ovarian and colorectal tissues, evaluate the consequences of these differences, and link this information to improve the clinical management of ovarian and colorectal cancer patients. Ongoing work is focused on the role of the mitochondrial genome alterations as modifier ‘genes’ in the progressive stages and dissecting the molecular basis of intra-tumor heterogeneity in ovarian and colorectal carcinoma. Other research project involved the evaluation of HLA-G gene mutations associated with prenatal transmission of HIV-1. Click here to view selected publications. |
