The Surgery Clerkship course is designed to prepare students for the practice of medicine by offering a comprehensive undergraduate experience in the scientific basis of surgical practice. It includes experiences in General, Oncology, Breast and Trauma Surgeries, as well as Surgical Critical Care and requires an eight-week rotation during the third year.
The major objectives of the clerkship are to provide entry-level knowledge of the basic surgical principles and techniques. Within this academic objective, the course has educational objectives in the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains. The second objective is to give each student experience in all areas of surgical care.
