Dr. Joel A. Okoli, MD, MPH, FACS invites you to explore this site and learn more about the Department of Surgery.
The General Surgery residency program is accredited for 22 residents. There are two categorical positions available at each level of training and preliminary positions available during the intern postgraduate year. The select nature of the program encourages bonds of camaraderie to be built among the residents and approachable relationships established with the faculty.
Post-graduates in our residency program participate in 5 years of training at our main facility at Grady Memorial Hospital, located in downtown Atlanta and other affiliated institutions in Fulton and DeKalb counties. Our residents gain vast experience in general surgery, trauma, critical care, surgical oncology and vascular surgery as well as opportunities in pediatric surgery.
Residents from our program have gone on to achieve great things locally and across the country. Learn more about our current and past residents.
