  • The Consortium of African-American Public Health Programs (CAAPHP) was created in Fall 1999 to support the partnership among public health programs and schools at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in an effort to prepare emerging health-care professionals to deal with the socio-economic disparities which disproportionately affect minority communities. The consortium is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Office of Minority Health of the Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) and continues to be a major mechanism for the achievement of eliminating health disparities at the local, state, national, and global levels.
