  • The MPH Program offers a comprehensive curriculum consisting of:

    • Core Courses (24 credit hours*)
    • Required Track Courses (12 credit hours*)
    • Elective Courses (4 credit hours).

    Students may choose to develop expertise in one of four specialization tracks:

    • Epidemiology*
    • Global Health
    • Health Administration, Management and Policy
    • Health Education and Health Promotion

    All students must complete the additional required courses:

    • Practicum Experience (3 credit hours)
    • Culminating Experience (3 credit hours)
    • Academic Graduate Writing** (1st Year Students) (2 credit hours)
    • Academic Graduate Writing Workshop (2nd Year Students) (0 credit hours)
    • Public Health Leadership Seminars (0 credit hours)
    • Career Development Workshops (0 credit hours)
    • Quantitative/Qualitative Labs (0 credit hours)
    • 20 Public Health Leadership Seminars (0 credit hours)

    The total number of credit hours for the MPH Degree is 48.

    *Epidemiology Track students who entered the program in Fall 2009 and Fall 2010 are required to take the curriculum which consists of 7 core courses (21 hours), 5 required track courses (15 credit hours) and elective courses (4 credit hours). Epidemiology Track students are not required to take Grant & Proposal Development. Effective Fall 2011, Epidemiology Track students are required to take 8 core courses (24 hours), 4 required track courses (12 credit hours) and elective courses (4 credit hours).

    **The Academic Graduate Writing (1st year course) is a 2 credit hour, non-paid course that is only taught during the first year of the program. The second year students continue participating in the Academic Graduate Writing Workshops specifically designed to assist them in completing and submitting the Culminating Experience.
