The nation has a critical need for primary care physicians. However, as the average compensation for primary care physicians is typically lower than that of specialists, primary care physicians experience more difficulty repaying their medical education loans.

Celebrities will swing into action for competitive play and camaraderie - all to help raise funds for student scholarships at the Hank & Billye Aaron 9th Annual Charity Event hosted by the Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) National Alumni Association.

The golf and tennis tournaments, clinics and pairing party will be held April 30-May 3, 2010.

Co-chairs of the event will be professional baseball legend Hank Aaron and his wife, Billye Aaron. Tournament leaders will be international tennis champion Leslie Allen, Georgia physician Dr. Edward K. Bass III, Pennsylvania surgeon Dr. Hank C. Hill, Georgia pediatrician and former president of the MSM Alumni Association Dr. W. Steen James, former Atlanta Braves legend, Falcons great and MSM trustee Brian Jordan, veteran race car driver Bill Lester and celebrity chef Marvin Woods.

The May 2, 2010 Pairing Party will provide an opportunity to visit with colleagues, teammates, meet with pros, special guests, and MSM alumni. Celebrity chef Marvin Woods will demonstrate healthy cooking and eating tips and "The Grape" will host a spirits tasting during the event. Tours of model homes within Stonehaven at Sugarloaf Showcase Homes will be featured.

Events sponsors for 2010 include MAG Mutual, Delta Air Lines, Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead, The Grape, Tiffany & Co., the United States Tennis Association and John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods.

In 1975, the Atlanta medical school was founded to serve those most in need and to increase the number of minority physicians. Now MSM is training the next generation of physicians, biomedical scientists and health care leaders committed to the elimination of inequalities in health and changing the landscape of health care.

Proceeds from the golf and tennis tournaments support the Morehouse School of Medicine National Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship Fund. Proceeds from the pairing party support the annual Founder's Fund for need-based scholarships, the library and classroom and technology enhancements.
