Atlanta Now: Metro Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership Announces Peace Plan Initiative
James Griffin, PhD, associate professor in the department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine and founder of the Metro Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership (MAVPP), along with the eldest son of Martin Luther King, Jr., held a news conference on August 15, 2011 announcing plans to launch the Peace Plan Initiative. Held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta, the Peace Plan initiative is designed to reduce violence in Atlanta using elements of proven programs, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and PeaceBuilders.
