Dr. Charlotte Owens joins Morehouse School of Medicine
Charlotte Owens joins Morehouse School of Medicine as the Director of the Division of Industry Collaborative Research and Chief Medical Officer for Morehouse School of Medicine’s Office of Translational Technologies (OTT). She is also on the faculty in the Department of OB/Gyn.
The OTT has considerable scope and complexity involved Morehouse School of Medicine’s intellectual property, technology transfer, contract procurement, and new research program development. The office is also associated with business processes and procedures. In addition, Clinical Trials & Services (CTS) will be marketed and executed within a CRO and under the direction of Dr. Owens. She will also work in collaboration with the PCIR, CIN and RCTR to ensure integration of all services including subject recruitment and investigator identification.
Dr. Owens previously held the position of lead consultant of the healthcare sector at Booz Allen in Atlanta. During her career, Owens has also served as Director of Global Clinical Affairs at Kimberly Clark Corporation and Worldwide Medical Director for Gynecare, a division of ETHICON, a Johnson and Johnson Company. Dr. Owens also served as Staff Physicians for St. Joseph Women’s Hospital and University Community Hospital in Tampa Florida.
She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California Davis, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Owens completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI.
