Felix Aikhionbare Ph.D. receives Excellence in Mentoring Award
September 8, 2010
Felix Aikhionbare Ph.D., research assistant professor, Department of Medicine, was recently named a recipient of the 2010 Minority Health and Health Disparities Charles Barkley Excellence in Mentoring Awards. Aikhionbare was nominated by his mentee and current MSM student, Gregory Adams, Jr.
The Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) recognizes faculty members from across the country who have provided outstanding mentoring and have contributed substantially to the career development and retention of students and scholars. “I had always said to myself that the act of mentoring bears something in common with the act of learning,” said Aikhionbare.
The award will be formally presented on September 24th at the “Center Court with Sir Charles” Gala on the campus of UAB.
