AJC: Morehouse School of Medicine wins grant to help its neighbors

The schools of the Atlanta University Center sometimes find themselves isolated from the surrounding community outside their ivy-covered walls.  John E. Maupin, president of the Morehouse School of Medicine, is trying to change that. 

With a $500,000 federal grant in hand, the medical school is leading an effort to reclaim the surrounding neighborhood with programs aimed at health and wellness, education, economic development, infrastructure, safety and community resources.
