A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Kevin McGee began his career as a business consultant providing technical assistance to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI’s) which were established in 1994 by the U.S. Treasury Department. He was responsible for chartering credit unions across the Southeastern United States. From here Mr. McGee began a career in the Cash Management Division of Delta Airlines in Atlanta.
Prior to joining Accion USA as director of Business Development, Mr. McGee was president and CEO of Horn of Plenty Hospitality, LLC, a company he founded in 2001. Horn of Plenty is a multifaceted hospitality company providing contract food service management, food service consulting, and executive catering services for an array of corporate and institutional clients across the country. An 18 year veteran of this industry, his first introduction to the hospitality industry came while working in the industry to supplement his educational expenses. Since its beginning the company has grown. Horn of Plenty is currently transitioning their operations to provide food service consulting to developing markets in West Africa and Southeast Asia.
In April of 2010, Mr. McGee was elected as president of the Morehouse College National Alumni Association - the youngest president elected to this position in the past century. He is committed to serving the interests of the Alumni Association through implementing an ambitious plan to reengage, rebuild, and reclaim the Association’s Alumni. Prior to becoming president of the National Association, he served as Regional Vice President and President of the Atlanta Chapter for several years. The Atlanta Chapter also named Kevin Alumnus of the Year. It was in the Atlanta Chapter where Kevin assisted the chapter in preparing its first ever five year strategic plan.
Volunteering his time and talent is an integral part of Mr. McGee's life. He is particularly committed to issues that affect our youth and believes that mentoring is a key factor in the success of our young people. He has been active in a number of organizations including the United Way of Metro Atlanta, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, Communities in Schools of Georgia, Dekalb County School Mentoring. He routinely mentors youth in his community and place of business.
Mr. McGee graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in Finance and a minor in Spanish. An avid traveler, Kevin has traveled throughout Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Most recently he traveled through several countries in West Africa. He resides in Atlanta with his wife Andrea, a prosecutor with Dekalb County Solicitor’s Office. He and his wife have two beautiful daughters Kayla Imani and Amaya Ariel.
