The Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine supports the MSM mission in working to provide primary care services to the medically underserved.

Since 1997, we have partnered with the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness and Grady Health Systems to provide primary health care to the underserved of northwest Atlanta. We staff two Grady Health System Neighborhood Health Centers and provide care at other sites affiliated with Morehouse Medical Associates.

We particularly strive to ensure that our patients receive all appropriate clinical preventive services. Our physicians use their knowledge of the social, cultural, environmental and economic determinants of health and disease to address the health and health-care delivery problems of minority and underserved communities.

Our Travel Clinic, located at Morehouse Medical Associates at 75 Piedmont Avenue, provides medical advice, immunizations, malaria prophyllaxis, and other services to persons preparing to visit developing countries.

In addition to providing medical care to individuals, we also think of the community as a "patient." Our physicians diagnose health problems at the community level and work with the community to develop a treatment plan.
