MSM on a Mission
In conjunction with the year-long SHLI 10 Year Anniversary Celebration, SHLI staff members participated in a three-hour meal packing and meal delivery community
service/team-building activity at Open Hand Atlanta. Twenty staff members successfully packed 2,311 meals and completed seven deliveries
across the metropolitan Atlanta area.
Community Voices Director Starla Blanks and staff members Jareese Stroud and Whitney Graves were appointed to the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice’s Reentry Task Force.
Ms. Blanks serves on the Mental and Physical Health Task Force, Ms. Stroud serves
on the Parenting Sub Group, and Ms. Graves serves on the Leisure Time Sub Group.
On March 31, 2016, Dr. Natalie D. Hernandez, assistant professor in the department of CHPM and of the PRC and Center of Excellence
on Health Disparities, received the "Latinas Poderosas Atlanta" award and was recognized
by Mundo Hispanico Atlanta as one of the most powerful Latinas in Atlanta. <<MORE>>
SHLI staff member Sayon Cooper has been named Head Coach for both the Liberia Track & Field Federation and Liberia
National Olympic Track & Field Team, and will be leading a group of Liberia's best
athletes at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. <<MORE>>
