MSM Town Hall unveils 5-year Strategic Plan "Excellence Through Health Equity" outlining specific strategies and each strategy-leading
champion.
Special guest of the MSM Town Hall, former Essence magazine Chief Editor Susan Taylor, implores attendees, particularly black men, to sign up as mentors for National CARES,
the national mentoring movement of which she is both founder and CEO.
On September 24, 2015, Drs. Kisha Holden and Tabia Akintobi presented their project Transforming Metropolitan Atlanta Communities through Prevention,
Primary Care Linkages and Policy Change as a health equity model of excellence at
a recent Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) meeting at the CDC,
Division of Community Health (DCH).
MSM hosted the 20th Annual HeLa Conference and Healthy Living & Community Engagement
Day on September 18-19, 2015, promoting precision medicine through the life, legacy
and contribution of Henrietta Lacks and recognizing local media partners for championing

More than 60 were in attendance at the Men of MSM Networking Mixer on September 23,
2015, which provided an opportunity for male students and young professionals to meet
community leaders, converse with industry professionals, and connect with lifelong
mentors.

The Clinical Research Center (CRC) is in the final days of screening for its Nutri-Genomic Study, of which Dr. Yuan-Xiang Meng is the PI. The CRC is seeking overweight African-Americans ages 18-70 with high blood
pressure. <<MORE>>
On September 1, MSM Travel & Expense implemented the travel phase of its new premier travel and expense system, Concur. Concur is available to all MSM employees who travel on official MSM business and
will implement the expense phase starting October 1.
Community-Academic Research Partnerships Grants Program requests for applications for the Pilot Study grant and Dissemination grant are due by October 2, 2015.
In an effort to increase the overall efficiencies at MSM, the Operations Department
has launched its Operational Excellence initiative and provided a webpage and email link to the MSM community as a new communication tool to provide suggestions for process
improvements.
Currently, the Office of Information Technology is implementing Phase I of a multi-phase project to transform MSM's IT Infrastructure
Core. Most recently, the installation of a fiber backbone has taken place in order
to increase bandwidth and provide faster speeds. Click here for more information.
