This year’s Top Diversity Leaders have taken action in a variety of ways to make a difference at their companies and across the industry. In addition to the spotlighted individuals, Modern Healthcare has selected nine organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to diversity through executive leadership and board makeup, and through company-wide projects. The honorees serve as compelling examples of prioritizing equity and inclusion amid a shifting industry.
Dr. Veronica Mallett
Senior Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer, More in Common Alliance
Veronica T. Mallett, MD, MMM, an obstetrician and gynecologist, was selected in 2022
to join the More in Common Alliance. Through a 10-year, $100 million initiative, the
Alliance is working to recruit students from underserved communities to enroll at
Morehouse School of Medicine for their first two years of study, establish regional
medical school training sites in underserved areas, and create graduate medical education
programs in CommonSpirit Health markets. Dr. Mallett previously filled leadership
roles, including senior vice president and dean of the school of medicine, at Meharry
Medical College. Before that, she helped start a medical school in El Paso, Texas,
to mitigate the physician shortage in that part of the state.
