This July, Dr. Norberto Fas was promoted to Professor of Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine — an academic milestone recognized by the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) Faculty/Physician Advisory Council (FPAC) in the latest issue of El Informe. His promotion places him among a small number of Latino faculty across the country to reach this rank within U.S. medical schools.

El Informe, LMSA FPAC’s official newsletter, serves as a national platform to highlight the professional growth, mentorship and leadership of Latino faculty in medicine. In his note, Dr. Fas reflected on the support he received throughout his journey: “Gracias for all your support. Without your letters of recommendation, this would not have been possible… I can now be counted as another Latino who is a Full Professor at an American Medical School.”

LMSA FPAC prioritizes faculty development as a key strategy for shaping student success. The recognition of Dr. Fas’ promotion underscores that focus, offering a reminder of the broader impact of mentorship and representation within academic medicine.
