Morehouse School of Medicine Named Best Online Master's in Biotechnology Programs by Intelligent.com

Higher education resource guide releases the best institution programs for 2022

ATLANTA – DECEMBER 13, 2021 – Morehouse School of Medicine has been named to Intelligent.com’s list of the Best Online Master's in Biotechnology Programs for 2022.

Intelligent.com is a trusted resource for online/on-campus program rankings and higher education planning. Intelligent.com’s research identifies nine top programs in the nation based on flexibility, faculty, course strength, cost, and reputation.

Morehouse School of Medicine was awarded Best HBCU on the final list. Intelligent.com implemented a unique methodology that ranks each program on a scale from zero to 100 across five categories. The scoring system compares each university according to program strength, student readiness, return on investment, cost, and student engagement. Researchers compared 400 programs from 155 universities and colleges across the U.S.

The Office of Online Education and Expanded Programs offerings include:

  • The Master of Science in Biotechnology degree (MSBT) provides a foundation in the scientific and business components needed to advance biotechnologies. The program develops comprehensive knowledge in bioscience, core technologies, and analytical methods used to support biotechnology enterprises.
  • The Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) develops comprehensive knowledge in the methodologies to acquire, store, retrieve, and use of health information in medicine to support healthcare and clinical research enterprises.
  • The Bridge to Biotechnology and Bioentrepreneurship (B2BB) is a five-week summer program that exposes motivated college students and post-baccalaureate professionals to the biotechnology industry and bioentrepreneurship. This graduate pipeline summer program is a bridge to the online MS Biotech degree and provides a foundation in the scientific and business components needed to advance biotechnologies.
  • For students interested in the health informatics field, there is also a Bridge to Health Informatics (B2HI) program, which takes place for five weeks over the summer. Students will develop knowledge and training in health information technologies, healthcare analytics, and its operations, and students can join the online MS in Health Informatics degree program.

In one year, the Bridge to Biotechnology and Bioentrepreneurship and Bridge to Health Informatics program have grown more than 50%, with 100 students from across the U.S. and around the globe.

Studies show that obtaining a degree increases income substantially, degree holders earning 84% more than those with only high school diplomas or those without a completed GED. The percentage difference in earnings continues to grow with higher learning degrees such as masters, doctoral or professional degrees, with the unemployment rate decreasing to as much as 1.1% for those with a doctorate.
