MSM President and CEO Valerie Montgomery Rice, MD, FACOG and Other Industry Leaders Join the Chartis Group's Newly Formed Advisory Board

Leading healthcare advisory and analytics firm says board will act as a meaningful force
in the industry journey toward health equity and belonging.

ATLANTA – JUNE 28, 2022Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) President and CEO Valerie Montgomery Rice, MD, FACOG, was named an inaugural member of a newly formed Health Equity Advisory Board announced by The Chartis Group, a leading healthcare advisory and analytics firm. With this appointment, Dr. Montgomery Rice joins Garth Graham, MD, director and global head of healthcare and public health for Google/YouTube; Joy Lewis, SVP of Health Equity Strategies and executive director of the Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE) at the American Hospital Association; and Darshak Sanghavi, MD, global chief medical officer for Babylon.

Dr. Montgomery Rice serves as both president and CEO of Morehouse School of Medicine. She is the first woman in the school's history to assume that leadership role. An infertility specialist and researcher, she has held faculty positions and leadership roles at various health centers, including academic health centers, throughout her career. Most notably, she was the founding director of the Center for Women's Health Research at Meharry Medical College, one of the nation's first research centers devoted to studying diseases that disproportionately impact women of color. Advancing equity in healthcare, access to care, and improving diversity among physicians and scientists' ranks have always been among Dr. Montgomery Rice's top priorities.
