Office of the Senior Vice President of Research
Dear Morehouse School of Medicine Faculty and Staff,
I am excited to announce the establishment of our new Grants Management Office, which will serve as a centralized hub for pre- and post-award grant management for all departments, research centers and institutes at Morehouse School of Medicine.
This new office marks a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing support for research activities and streamlining administrative processes at MSM. The Grants Management Office will play a pivotal role in facilitating efficient grant administration, fostering collaboration and ensuring compliance with funding regulations.
Key Functions of the Grants Management Office (GMO)
Pre-Award Services
Starting June 1, our team will provide support in proposal development, budget preparation and grant application validation. We will assist researchers in navigating the complexities of grant requirements and help optimize proposals for success.
Post-Award Management
Coming soon, our office will oversee some post-award administration tasks such as grant account setup, financial management, progress reporting and compliance monitoring. We are committed to ensuring that awarded funds are managed effectively and utilized in accordance with sponsor guidelines.
Training and Guidance
The Grants Management Office, in conjunction with the Office of Sponsored Programs and the Office of Grants and Contracts, will offer training sessions, workshops and resources to assist faculty and staff in understanding grant policies, procedures, and best practices. We will provide the necessary support to empower researchers in their pursuit of external funding.
By centralizing grant management functions, we aim to streamline processes, reduce administrative burden and promote consistency in practices across the institution. Our goal is to create an environment that fosters innovation, promotes research excellence and facilitates the advancement of MSM's mission.
I encourage all faculty and staff to engage GMO for assistance with pre-award and post award research activities. Our team is here to support you and ensure your success.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Rick Roberts, PhD, who will lead our new Grants Management Office. He brings extensive experience in grant administration and a commitment to providing exceptional service to our research community.
