Vanguard recipient -- to the Atlanta health community and allows donors to "experience" how the school is leading the creation and advancement of health equity during the 10th annual Hugh M. MARCH 17, 2017 - On March 17, 2017, 100 percent of Morehouse School of Medicine's (MSM) 57 fourth year students matched to fill the nation's leading residency programs, with 81 percent focusing in primary care and core specialty disciplines.

Emory and Partners MSM & Georgia Tech Receive NIH Funding to Establish Collaborative Diabetes Research Center
FEBRUARY 15, 2017 - Emory University received an approximately $2.5 million grant from The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease for the establishment of the Georgia Diabetes Translation Research Center (GDTRC), which is a partnership among Emory's Rollins School of Public Health, School of Medicine, Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, and Goizueta Business School, along with Georgia Institute of Technology and Morehouse School of Medicine.

FEBRUARY 9, 2017 - On January 24, 2017 the Atlanta University Center Consortium Council of Presidents and Mayor Kasim Reed announced the completion of a collaborative surveillance program that strategically places video cameras and license plate readers around the campus community to create a safer environment.

HBCUs Imperative in Providing Health Sciences Graduates Critical to Future of Nation's Health and Wellness
JANUARY 20, 2017 - According to a report commissioned by the presidents of the nation's four HBCU medical schools - Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, Howard University, Meharry Medical College, and Morehouse School of Medicine - the number of African-American students in U.S. medical schools who attended HBCUs has fallen from 26 percent in 2002 to just 12 percent in 2015. The HBCU Empower initiative is designed to increase the number of academically prepared HBCU graduates who apply and enroll in graduate and professional schools in health sciences fields, and diversify the workforce.
