As Morehouse School of Medicine’s Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, what are your day-to-day responsibilitiesDerrick Beech here at Grady?

My role is to ensure that the overarching missions of Morehouse School of Medicine and Grady are achieved. This is accomplished on a day to day level by providing the Chiefs of Services and clinicians the tools they need to
provide high quality patient care. Further, my role is to assure that the clinical support is in place for our medical student programs and graduate medical education needs.

What are your key targets for the year?

There are several goals for this year. One includes selecting targeted services to strengthen the collaboration between MSM, Emory and Grady. We also aim to exceed the projected benchmarks for all of our quality and patient satisfaction metrics.

What will be your biggest challenge?

I anticipate the biggest challenge will be growing our volume and expanding into new service lines while improving our quality metrics. Another area of opportunity is improving our ambulatory patient satisfaction performance — we have a talented group of providers, so I’m certain this can be achieved.
