6th Annual Academic & Industry Intersection Conference

On April 30th the Atlanta Clinical & Translational Science Institute (ACTSI) hosted its 6th Annual Academic & Industry Intersection Conference, led by Emory University with partners Morehouse School of Medicine and Georgia Institute of Technology, and Georgia Bio, the state’s life sciences industry association in MSM's Louis W. Sullivan National Center for Primary Care Auditorium. Annually the conference provides critical information on how academia and industry can work together to translate science into discovery and engage communities in clinical research efforts and outcomes. The event provides a collaborative environment for university investigators and industry executives using a program filled with subject-matter experts describing current models and innovative trends shaping the future of translational science.

This year ACTSI profiled successful public-private-partnerships and examined how to navigate the commercialization process, followed by an expert panel featuring stories of successful academic/industry partnerships and first-hand stories of commercializing new technologies and startup creation. The conference closed with a fast-paced Shark Tank featuring faculty, student, and industry innovators presenting their technologies to investors and successful bioscience entrepreneurs and executives.
