Residents Shine During William E. Booth Research Day

The Offices of the Dean, Sponsored Programs and Research and Graduate Medical Education held the inaugural
William E. Booth Resident Research Day in June.

Residents from the seven MSM residency programs showcased their research efforts via posters, with the top posters being awarded a prize. Dr. Susan Thomas won top honors for her illustration, “Exploring the Barriers Involved in Patient Centered E-Communication.”  First runner-up honors were presented to Dr. Pallavi Ghuge and Dr. Constance Enmon for, “Evaluation of Asthma Knowledge in the Emergency Room Setting.”  Dr. LaQuita Martinez was named second runner-up for “Lifestyle Intervention to Limit Excessive Weight Gain during Pregnancy in Minority Women.”

Residents at all levels were allowed to submit posters to showcase their research experience with their faculty advisors. Dr. William E. Booth, Dr. Sandra Moore, and Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice served as judges; evaluating posters on scientific content, poster design, and a verbal presentation. Dr. William E. Booth serves as the long-time director of MSM’s graduate medical education program.
