Leader honored for legacy of service and leadership at 25th anniversary conference


ATLANTA – (September 26, 2010) Morehouse School of Medicine President John E. Maupin, Jr. was inducted into  the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame on September 24th for his long and distinguished career as a visionary change agent, intellectual leader and public policy expert.  Dr. Maupin, the fifth president of MSM, was recognized in a silver anniversary ceremony for 30 years of service leadership in health care administration, public health, and academic medicine.  

In accepting the award, Dr. Maupin stated, “It is a tremendous honor for me to join the ranks of so many accomplished scholars, leaders and educators who hail from one of the nation’s distinguished HBCUs.“  “To stand here tonight is a testament of the impact and contributions graduates of historically black colleges and universities are making to change lives and communities, everyday” said Maupin.

The HBCU award recognizes alumni of Historically Black Colleges and Universities who have distinguished themselves as leaders in their respective fields.
