Alumni Spotlight

Kelechi Anyanwu is a newly double board-certified Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine physician. She received a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, before completing medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine-Georgia campus. She completed her family medicine residency at Morehouse School of Medicine’s Family Medicine Residency Program. She then went on to complete a secondary residency in preventive medicine at Morehouse, focusing on maternal health. While in the preventive medicine program, she obtained a master’s in public health also at Morehouse School of Medicine. Her interests in medicine include women’s health, lifestyle medicine, social determinants of health, and global health. She hopes to continue a career in medicine where she can improve the health and well-being of marginalized groups at the individual and population levels. During her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, attending concerts and festivals, and planning events.

Dr. Macy McNair was installed as Vice Speaker of the
Georgia Academy of Family Physicians Congress of Delegates.

Dr. Kelsey served as the District 11 Delegate to the
Georgia Academy of Family Physicians Congress of Delegates.

Dr. Corey Boggs, immediate past Chief Resident, received the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians Keith Ellis, MD Resident Scholarship Award recognizing her leadership in academics and community affairs and the outstanding contributions she made as Chief Resident. Only one Chief resident
in the state of GA receives this award each year.

Dr. Alexandria Poitier, immediate past Chief Resident, received the
Georgia Academy of Family Physicians Resident of the Year Award.

Global Medicine Trip

Dr. Daniels, Chief Resident, January 2023 Global Medicine trip to the DR:

  • Member of the first official Family Medicine Cares International Delegation from the American Academy of Family Physicians to the Dominican Republic.
  • Aspects of the Global Medicine Initiative included:
    • Provided direct patient care to underserved populations in various 4 bateys in DR where we saw 150 patients on the very first day working alongside local physicians from One World Surgery who will continue to provide care to the patients most in need.
    • Participated in a medical education symposium at the Universidad Central del Este that focused on diabetes management.
    • Hosted community project and celebration to support Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, a group home and educational facility for children in need.
