Tabia Henry Akintobi, Ph.D., M.P.H. is associate professor of Community Health and Preventive Medicine, Associate Dean of Community Engagement and Principal Investigator of the Prevention Research Center. Germane to these efforts is her demonstrated excellence in community-based participatory research, community-engaged public health practice and experiential learning for trainees across the health professional career development pipeline. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and earned both a Master’s of Public Health and Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Health from the University of South Florida’s College of Public Health with specializations in social and behavioral sciences, community and family health. 

 
Dr. Henry Akintobi’s leadership is demonstrated through local, national and international clinical and translational research, training and service initiatives that address social and public health disparities towards health equity. Her repertoire of effective collaboration is evidenced by several National Institutes of Health and Department of Health and Human Service grants. Among them include those through which she is director of both the Atlanta Clinical and Translational Institute (National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences) Community Engagement and Research Program and the Exploratory Center of Excellence on Health Disparities (National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities) Community Engagement Core. She is a regularly invited lecturer, workshop facilitator and has received awards for outstanding public health research and evaluation teaching.
 
 
Dr. Henry Akintobi conducts these activities incorporating her expertise and dedication to effective community-engaged research, social marketing and participatory evaluation.
