Morehouse School of Medicine proudly celebrates three outstanding team members who were recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as 2026 Health Care Champions — an honor highlighting individuals making a meaningful impact across the health care landscape.

Dr. Angela Richard-Eaglin, Senior Associate Dean and Chief of Clinical and Academic Education for the MSM nursing program, received the Health Equity Leader of the Year award. A nationally recognized expert in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, Dr. Richard-Eaglin has helped shape innovative nursing education programs that center community engagement and health justice, while continuing to develop leaders committed to improving outcomes for underserved communities.

Pamela Cooper, Director of Translational Community Engagement, was named Community Outreach Champion of the Year. With more than four decades of experience, Cooper’s work has been instrumental in building trust within communities and expanding access to care. Through initiatives like the Prostate Cancer Precision Prevention Program and the creation of Georgia’s first clinical research mobile unit, she has helped bring critical screenings and research opportunities directly to underserved populations across the state.

Dr. Matthew Simpson, a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellow, was honored as a Rising Star. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Simpson is the founder of Top MD LLC, an educational platform that has supported thousands of medical and nursing students from diverse backgrounds. His commitment to mentorship and innovation in medical education continues to strengthen the pipeline of future health care professionals.

Together, these honorees exemplify the mission of Morehouse School of Medicine — advancing health equity, expanding access to care and developing the next generation of leaders dedicated to achieving health justice.
