Academic and Community Innovation
QEP-IPE STUDENT COUNCIL
The Interprofessional Education Student Council is comprised of student representatives from each academic program at MSM: MD, PA, GEBS (PhD & MS), and MPH programs. This Council informs the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) planning teams of student concerns as well as develops student led activities to foster and strengthen student relationships in different programs.
ROLES OF THE COUNCIL
- Develop a fall and spring interdisciplinary teambuilding, educational activity
- Provide input into the IPE program
- Meet periodically with QEP staff and IPE leadership
FOUNDING COUNCIL MEMBERS (2020)
Alexandria Blake - PHYSICIan ASSISTANT STUDENT
Alexandria Blake was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Georgia in Biological Sciences. She also received a Master of Public Health with a concentration in epidemiology from Georgia State University. Prior to matriculating to Morehouse School of Medicine, she worked in Ophthalmology as a Certified Ophthalmic Scribe and a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
DOMINICK CANADY: DOCTOR OF MEDICINE STUDENT
Dominick Canady is a medical student at Morehouse School of Medicine. He is interested in specializing in Ophthalmology and is the current Co-Director for the Lions Lighthouse Eye Clinic.
ALEXis Clark - master of science in biomedical research STUDENT
Alexis Clark is a student in the Masters of Biomedical Research Program.
Nora jean baptiste- DOCTOR OF MEDICINE STUDENT
Nora Jean-Baptiste is currently pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree here at Morehouse School of Medicine. She is interested in becoming a pediatrician and plans to serve underserved populations. With the QEP: IPE Council, she hopes to promote positive and enriching interprofessional interactions among students from varying programs.
KABRIEL MOOREHEAD - PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT STUDENT
Kabriel Moorehead is originally from Jacksonville, Florida and received a B.S. from the University of Central Florida in Biomedical Sciences, after which he worked as an EMT and ER Scribe prior to attending the PA program at MSM.
VANESSA MORMAN: MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH STUDENT
Vanessa Morman is a Master of Public Health student at Morehouse School of Medicine. Her research interests are health disparities and the epidemiology of diseases prevalent in low income populations. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her dog, Myles.
OLIVIA OGBA: DOCTOR OF MEDICINE STUDENT
Olivia Ogba is a medical student at Morehouse School of Medicine. She attended Emory University for her undergraduate studies.
JESSICA ROBINSON: MASTER OF SCIENCE IN MEDICAL SCIENCE STUDENT
Jessica Robinson is from Rock Hill, South Carolina. She graduated from Norfolk State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and is currently a first-year student in the Master of Science in Medical Science program at Morehouse School of Medicine. She is a long-time pianist and enjoys running and playing tennis in her free time.
CAPELLA SAGASTUME: MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH STUDENT
Capella Sagastume is a Master of Public Health student, where she promotes health equity and community engagement in rural communities. Her aspiration is to enter public health law and create legal interventions for the public. When not working, Capella enjoys spending time with her German Shepherd, White Water rafting, and Ziplining.
COURTNEY SMART: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT STUDENT
Courtney Smart is an MSM PA student from Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Howard University in 2016 and worked as a nursing assistant in the intensive care unit for three years before starting PA school.
FRANTZ SOIRO: MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH STUDENT
Frantz D. Soiro is from Orange, New Jersey. He went to Saint John’s University where he received his B.A. in Chemistry and is now pursuing a Master of Public Health at Morehouse School of Medicine.
