The section of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine provides inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular services, as well as a state of the art clinical research program. The cardiovascular disease consultative service includes an active teaching program for the internal medicine residency program, third year medical students during their clerkship rotation in internal medicine, as well as elective rotations for fourth year medical students. Our teaching and inpatient consultative service is located in Grady Hospital where we also provide out-patient cardiology services which includes a pacemaker and heart failure clinics.

We provide comprehensive non-invasive cardiology (including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, stress testing) and invasive cardiology services which includes diagnostic cardiac catheterization, angioplasty and electrophysiology cardiology. Open heart surgery is also available for our patients at Grady Hospital.

Cardiology faculty also provides consultative services at other hospitals in the downtown area, including Atlanta Medical Center, Emory Crawford Long Hospital and South Fulton Medical Center. In addition to the Grady ambulatory service, cardiology faculty provides office based consultations and non invasive cardiac procedures at Morehouse Medical Associates Faculty Practice located at 75 Piedmont Road.

We also have an active research program in the section of cardiology; our faculty members serve as principal investigators of NIH and other multi-center clinical trials. Members of the section have authored numerous papers in peer reviewed journals. Faculty members also provide mentorship for internal medicine residents and medical students.

There are three full time, two part-time and three adjunct clinical faculty members in the section. The section Chief is Dr. Elizabeth Ofili. Non physician members of the section of cardiology include a physician assistant, a clinical nurse coordinator and an administrative assistant.
